Urbanscape Green Roofs at the exhibition 'Water' in City Museum of Ljubljana
The European Green Capital is an European Commission initiative, promoting and rewarding the efforts of cities that are committed to improving the urban environment. In 2014 Ljubljana received the prestigious title of the European Green Capital 2016 in Copenhagen. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, received recognition for raising environmental awareness amongst its citizens, for its sustainability strategy 'Vision 2025', its implementation of a range of urban green measures and its impressive transportation network. With its surroundings Ljubljana also has accesses to remarkably high-quality water and its many sources that enabled 5,000 years of continuous settlement can still be accessed to this day.
The City Museum of Ljubljana's exhibition WATER presents the importance of water in the city through different themes and various timelines. The exhibition also discusses water cycles in nature, their meaning and ecology. Knauf Insulation, focused in the development of sustainable products and systems that contribute to water saving and conserving, is supporting this exhibition with Urbanscape Green Solutions. In august 2015 the exhibition will also include the presentation of innovative Urbanscape Green Roof System, introducing the public it's water retention capability and other benefits green roofs offer.
Urbanscape Green Roof System is already installed on several residential houses and commercial buildings in Ljubljana. On the terrace of high school Joze Plečnik is also a roof garden, designed with Urbanscape products that contribute to water moisture in raised beds. Part of the terrace is also covered with sedum blankets.
The exhibition Water will be opened until May 8th 2016.
